| Tunghai University
was founded in 1955 by the United Board for Christian
Higher Education in Asia. It was established as
a liberal arts university. In this Christian university,
the Chaplainˇ¦s Office played a very important role.
In addition to perpetuating the spirit of Christian
love, on which the university was founded, the Chaplain's
Office also provides guidance and counselling services
for all spiritual needs. It arranges a variety of
groups and activities for faculty, staff, and students,
including Bible study groups, student fellowships,
choir, seminars on theology and faith, workshops
on Christian leadership and discipleship, and English
Bible camp. It promotes spiritual renewal and growth
for Christians, and evangelizes by spreading the
Gospel.
The Chaplain's
Office teaches courses on religion and life, and
manages the Tunghai Chapel worship services. In
recent years, it has set up the Alpha program
for Christian growth, and the Beta program for
student leadership development. It also prepares
activities for special occasions, such as Easter
and Christmas. It provides counseling for faculty,
staff, and students. It also provides services including
funerals, weddings, and recognition of graduates.
In serving
the local church community, it provides on-the-job
training programs for pastors.
