Henry Luce Theological Lecture Series |
Tunghai is a Christian University. We endeavor to serve the entire church in Taiwan. We hope to contact many churches, to support and strengthen the church. We hope to provide various lecture speakers and training opportunities for churches, using Chaplain Office resources to provide theological lectures and seminars to integrate Christian faith and academic studies. The Luce Lecture Series is one of those activities. By inviting well-known theologians nationwide and overseas, we help Christians acquire a deeper understanding of their faith, so they may be committed to Christ more deeply. |
| |
| The Henry Luce Lectures started with the Henry Luce family. Rev. Henry Luce was a missionary in China in the late 19th century. Over thirty-some years, he supported and established Christian universities in Shantung province, later named Chi-Lu University and Yen-Chin University. |
| |
| To carry on this concern with Chinese Christian higher education and the burden to edify Tunghai University Christian students, the Luce family contributed a grant to establish the Henry Luce Lecture Series. |
| We hope the lecture series will deepen reflection on the Christian faith. In believing and trusting the kingdom of God, we follow the spirit of Rev. Henry Luce. In recent years, with the financial support of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA), the Tunghai University Chaplain¡¦s Office has provided academic and faith seminars and theological lectures annually, to stimulate reflection on, and practice of, the Christian faith. |
